The Mn\u00f4ng people of B\u1ea3n \u0110\u00f4n are renowned for their tradition of capturing and taming wild elephants\u2014an occupation requiring courage, experience, and strong teamwork. A hunting expedition could last for days, involving a main hunter, assistants, and 5 to 10 trained elephants.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The toolkit used in elephant hunting is highly specialized, including ropes made from rattan and animal hide. Capturing ropes, in particular, require the strength of multiple buffalo hides to withstand the force of a wild elephant. Unique items such as horn water containers allow hunters to drink while crossing streams without stopping during the chase.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once captured, the taming process takes place gradually, beginning with restraint and guidance with the help of trained elephants, followed by familiarization with humans.
