When struck, the vibration travels into the tube, creating an air column that amplifies and enriches the sound. Without proper resonance, the sound weakens or disappears.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Pitch is determined by the length and thickness of each bamboo bar: longer bars produce lower tones, while shorter ones produce higher tones. Thickness also affects tonal quality.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In performance, each musician plays a single bar, similar to gong playing.
